BCAT is a small, but highly ambitious Academy Trust consisting of 3 secondary schools in Kent, Barton Court Grammar School, The Charles Dickens School and the new free school, Barton Manor School.
Barton Court Grammar School (BCGS) is a state, selective, co-educational school with a strong reputation for its high academic standards and its caring and supportive ethos. The School is an accredited ‘Advanced Thinking School’ and is also the lead school of Barton Court Academy Trust (BCAT). The Charles Dickens School (CDS), a state, non-selective, co-educational secondary school joined BCAT on 1 March 2017 and Barton Manor School (BMS), our free school, which is also a non-selective co-educational secondary school opened in September 2022 to Year 7.

THE POST
Required for 1 September 2023, the Trustees are seeking to appoint a senior leader who is SEND qualified and a highly experienced SENCo to the post of Assistant Headteacher: SENCo for our Free School, Barton Manor which opened to Y7 only in September 2022. The focus of responsibility for the post will be the strategic development of the SEND provision, Pupil Premium, EAL and Gifted & Talented provision across the whole school as well as whole school enrichment.
The successful candidate will have the potential and desire to be active and influential across the whole leadership spectrum. As such it will provide a first rate preparation for those considering going on to Deputy Headship.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate the Trust and School's vision and values and promote excellence in all aspects of school life. The role is a fantastic opportunity, as Assistant Headteacher of a new School, to establish the school’s culture/ethos of high academic/vocational standards within a very caring and supportive school community. Our focus is on achieving excellence in all that we do to support outstanding outcomes for all our students.
You will be joining a highly effective senior leadership team from across the Trust, led by the Executive Headteacher, and joining a state-of-the-art school with the latest facilities, resources and ICT. We aim to ensure that the successful candidate will be central to all major strategic decisions and will be leading some of these, working with the Executive Headteacher, Governors, staff and students.
The salary scale will be reviewed over time as the School grows and the level of responsibility increases.
