Barton Manor Wins Most Poetic School at the Canterbury Festival!
Posted on: 07/10/2025We are incredibly proud to share our students’ fantastic achievements in this year’s Canterbury Festival Poetry Competition. In Term 6 of 2024-25, our students crafted their own original poems, showcasing creativity, emotion and a real passion for language.
Out of an impressive 725 entries, seven of our students namely Yuvashi, Funmi, Richelle, Finlay, Matei, Evie-Primrose and Sheldon were awarded Special Mentions and received certificates in recognition of their thoughtful and imaginative writing.
Even more excitingly, two of our students were shortlisted to perform their poems live in front of an audience at the festival – Salina and Reegan – a huge accomplishment in itself! Following the performances, Reegan went on to win the Bronze Prize, an incredible achievement that reflects real talent and confidence.
To top it all off, our School was awarded the title of “Most Poetic School”, celebrating the collective effort, enthusiasm and creative spirit of our young writers.
We couldn’t be prouder of every student who took part — congratulations to all!
