Inspiring Creativity: UCA Workshops Empower Our Artists
Posted on: 18/11/2025A number of Key Stage 3 Art and GCSE Art/Photography students were invited to take part in a series of exciting creative workshops delivered by the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) on Cultural Capital Day 2.
The workshops included:
- Photography Lighting Workshop
Students explored professional lighting techniques with a professional photographer. - Vanitas & Surrealism: Drawing the Everyday into Imagination
Students explored Vanitas Still Life through observational drawings in Chalk and Charcoal. Then developed their own Surrealist characters or creatures drawing inspiration from historical and contemporary art movements. - Handmade Books
Students learnt how to design and construct their own artist books, combining layout, storytelling and craftsmanship.
These workshops delivered a valuable opportunity for students to engage with industry professionals, experience university-level creative practice, and build the cultural capital and confidence needed to succeed in education and beyond.
